Jon L Mackler
Executive Director
Jon L. Mackler, MPA, is Executive Director & CEO of Recovery Institute of South Florida (RISF). Mr. Mackler is responsible for the overall operations of the organization. Prior to joining RISF, Mr. Mackler held positions of increasing responsibility at hospitals and rehabilitation facilities.
He has also served as a board member for the American Heart Association and The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. Mr. Mackler has held adjunct faculty positions at two New York Universities. He is also the recipient of several prestigious awards.
Mr. Mackler holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Health Policy and Management from New York University and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Health Education from Temple University. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, its highest level of recognition.
As a hobby, Jon took up running and has run four half-marathons over the past three years, for charity.
Antonio De Filippo, MD
Medical Director
Doctor Antonio De Filippo is triple board certified in Psychiatry , Psychosomatic Medicine, and Addiction Medicine currently practicing in Broward county Florida. He is active in many areas of the medical industry and is experienced in both the treatment and management aspects of the industry. He has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry as a consultant and national speaker to the world’s largest pharmaceutical corporations.
Doctor De Filippo began his career as a double major at the University of Miami where he achieved a Bachelor in Science with honors. He continued his academic career at the University of South Florida where he earned his medical degree. He returned to Miami to complete his residency training at University of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital. Doctor De Filippo currently is an adjunct professor of psychopharmacology at Nova University Medical School.
Doctor DeFilippo is an active physician in his private practice which is comprised of three offices in Broward County. He has been or is currently the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Director, and/or on the Board of Advisors to a number of institutions including: Archways Community Mental Health Center, Susan B. Anthony Community Mental Health Center, Broward County Health Planning Council. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of South Florida Psychiatric Services. Dr. DeFilippo is a speaker for several major pharmaceutical corporations and is frequently requested as a consultant and trainer national medical advisory meetings. He is fluent in English, Italian and Spanish.
Stephen M. Herz
Program Director
Stephen M. Herz MS, LMHC, CAP, ICADC is Program Director of Recovery Institute of South Florida (RISF). Mr. Herz is responsible for the overall program of recovery and the supervision of the clinical staff. Prior to joining RISF, he has had positions of increasing responsibilities with various drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities in South Florida.
Mr. Herz has a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University and completed his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University. Mr. Herz uses and encourages his staff to use of a wide variety of therapeutic modalities to individually tailor the treatment to the individual needs of the client.
In his spare time, Steve is an avid scuba diver and woodworker. As a member of the South Florida Woodworkers Guild, he has shown his work at a number of craft shows in South Florida.
Nicole L. Poole
Nursing
Nicole has enjoyed a wide variety of nursing experiences in her career. She brings to the Recovery Institute of South Florida a very client centered approach to care that we feel is the cornerstone of quality treatment.
As one of the leaders of the medical team, the clients are sure to get a compassionate, knowledgeable nursing professional to help them with their medical issues and she ensures that each client is given top notch care in our facility.
